Settings for Macintosh

OS X - Panther

System Preferences:
Open "System Preferences" from the dock.
Open the "Network" pane.

Network (PPP):
For "Location", create a new location called "Syracuse Dial Up".
Set "Show" to... Internal Modem
Click the PPP tab
Enter "Account Name"... UserID@syracuse.net
(this is the ID you selected at signup - lowercase)
Enter "Password"... Your Password
(this is the password you selected at signup - lowercase)
Enter "Telephone Number"... Your Local Access Number
Check "Save Password"
Click "Apply Now"

Network (TCP/IP):
Click the TCP/IP tab
Select "Configure"... PPP
Enter "DNS Servers"... 209.2.141.2
(use 205.232.46.2 as a secondary if you wish)
Click "Apply Now"
Network (Modem):
Use the Modem pane to select your modem. You can show the modem status in the menu bar - a nice feature.
Click "Apply Now"
Applications:
Open the applications folder on your hard drive and locate "Internet Connect." Click ... drag ... and drop on the Dock for a handy shortcut.
Open "Internet Connect".

Internet Connect:
Simply click "Connect" whenever you wish to dial into Syracuse.Net.
Once you are connected, use your web browser (Safari, Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc.) to surf the internet. OS X E-Mail is also on the Dock... try sending yourself an e-mail.
